Fashion photography has become a prominent form of art over the past century, and the School of Visual Arts in New York City has finally taken notice. Beginning in the fall quarter of 2011, it will be offering a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree in Fashion Photography.

The one-year, 30-credit intensive program will be taught and lectured by renowned industry instructors, including image retouching master Pascal Dangin; fashion photographers Nick Knight, Ryan McGinley, Solve Sundsbo and Tim Walker; and many more.

The curriculum will focus on the narrative, conceptual and cultural issues surrounding fashion photography, while giving students the critical and technical skills to create original and competitive work.

The application period for the 2011 school year closed in January. Those accepted will take classes such as Fashion Photography Critique, History of Fashion Photography, Digital Photography for Fashion Photographers, Fashion Photography, Narrative and Cinema, and Video and Fashion Photography.
