Thirty-six large-scale prints by contemporary American photographer William Eggleston brought in $5.9 million at a Christie's auction in March.

Meant to expand the reach Eggleston's work, digital pigment prints were made for this auction. This is the first batch of Eggleston images not printed with his traditional dye-transfer technique. By doing the Eggleston and his trust were able to enlarge the prints to 44x60-inches, a size not possible with his past printing process.

The multi-million dollar sale included several of Eggleston's well-known images like that of a child's tricycle ("Untitled, 1970") and a corrugated metal roof ("Untitled, 1973").
