A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit brought by photographer Bert Stern against two men he accused of stealing images from his 1962 photo shoot with Marilyn Monroe.

The men, Donald Penny and Michael Weiss, who are also photographers, said they found images in the trash in the 1970s. Stern sued the men last September for $1 million and damages and demanded the return of the seven transparencies.

According to the settlement, Stern will receive possession of the images, but he also had to admit that Penny and Weiss were not involved in any criminal act. Penny and Weiss will also have rights to limited prints of the images.

The images in question were from one of Monroe's last photo sessions, often called, The Last Sitting.‚ Stern re-created the session last year with Lindsay Lohan for New York magazine.
