Seattle photographer Phil Borges, has widened the horizons of his Bridges to Understanding program to South Africa. Founded by Borges, Bridges to Understanding is a nonprofit group that encourages children to learn about the world through photography and visual storytelling.

The Amy Biehl Foundation, located in the Khayelitsha Township, near Cape Town, South Africa, is the newest member of the Bridges to Understanding worldwide network of classrooms. As part of the month-long festivities to celebrate the new location, six middle-school students from South Africa visited Seattle for three weeks to meet with their American peers at Seattle-area.
