Getty Images and Corbis have become charter sustaining members of the Picture Licensing Universal System Coalition, while Jupiterimages has committed to a second year of sustaining membership.
The participation of the three stock agencies is a measure of the industrywide commitment to create international licensing standards,including a universal licensing language that is easy to understand and use, according to PLUS leadership.
Other PLUS sustaining members include Adobe, Pentagram Design, Digital Railroad and the Picture Archive Council of America.
Last October, the coalition published the Universal Picture Licensing Glossary, a free resource providing industry-standard definitions for more than 1,300 terms used in transactions involving photography and illustrations (see PhotoMedia, Summer 2006, page 22).
