Canon has announced two new versions of its coveted wide-angle lenses and a new version of its popular 24-70mm standard zoom lens.

The good news about the new EF 24-70mm II lens: a more durable body (more weather resistant), reduced size (half a pound lighter), redesigned optics (added UD lens elements, which improve image fidelity across the whole frame) and a new zoom lock level that prevents damage to the lens during transit. The bad news: still no image stabilization. A bit of a disappointment given that the price for this lens has increased nearly half a grand more, to $2,299.

On the wide-angle front, Canon has updated these prime lenses — the EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM and EF28mm f/2.8 IS USM model — by adding four F-stops to shoot with. Both lenses have ultra-silent motors and new spherical lens elements.

Both lenses will be available in June. The EF will be priced at $849, and the EF 28mm will cost $799.
