Hasselblad's H4D-31 medium-format camera has created a new entry-point for 35mm film photographers looking to take their high-quality photography into the digital realm.

The H4D-31 is outfitted with a shutter speed range of 32 seconds to 1/800 second and an ISO range of 100-1600. Autofocus is metered with a passive central cross-type sensor and has instant manual focus override.

The new model uses low noise color filters, along with Hasselblad's Natural Color Solution (HNCS) processor to create images with superior color accuracy and detail.

Like its predecessor the H4D-40, the 31 utilizes a "true focus" system which solves the challenge of having to focus and recompose in order to acquire a focus point outside the center area of multi-point AF systems.

Along with this new camera release, Hasselblad has created a CF-lens adapter. Instead of buying a completely new camera body, V-System users have the option to convert their film cameras into a digital device by using the 50-megapixel CFV-50 converter. This is the third digital converter available now for V-System cameras and it has substantially larger sensors than the CFV-16 (16-megapixel) and the CFV-39 (290-megapixel) resolution backs.

The e H4D-31 is currently available in two configurations, both with the latest version of Hasselblad's Phocus 2.6 software. The first option is packaged with an 80mm lens, while the second option is equipped with the CD-lens adapter. Both kits are priced at $13,995. The CFV-50 adapter will be available for around $16,000.
