Adding a few perks for the advanced consumer, Nikon’s flagship Coolpix P7100 camera has undergone some functionality improvements since its predecessor, the P7100, came out last summer.

With the P7100, Nikon retained the same 10.1-megapixel sensor, but added a second click-wheel to the front of the camera body for adjustments. Depending on what mode you’re in, the wheel’s function will change. Example: In manual mode, the secondary wheel controls the aperture, while the primary wheel controls the shutter speed.

This year’s Coolpix still houses the same 3-inch, 921,000-dot LCD — although the screen tilts now — and the same 7.1x wide-angle zoom lens.

Nikon has also added a few additional creative modes with this model, such as cross processing, paint, multiple exposure, solarized monochrome and soft focus. ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 6400 with an expandable ISO 12800 low-noise mode.

Video has been improved by adding zoom capabilities while recording; however, the highest available resolution is still only 720p. Stills can be shot in JPEG (1.2 frames per second) or RAW mode.

If you want to expand your focal length, the P7100 can also be connected to a 0.75x wide-angle converter (WC-E75A) to reach 21mm.

The Nikon Coolpix P7100 is available for $499.
