Microtek recently entered the world of HDTV with two 42-inch LCD HDTVs equipped with Full-HD 1,080p resolution. Joining the high-end Cineon series is the CL42HA, ideal for the custom A/V installer and home theater channel. The second is the Microtek L42CX2A, built for video enthusiasts.

Both new products use advanced scaler technology and accurately display video at 480i, 480p and 720p, in addition to 1,080i and 1,080p. Along with delivering Full-HD 1,080p with a native resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels in the wide-screen 16:9 format, both TVs offer a brightness of 500cd/m2 (candelas per square meter), a contrast ratio of 1,200:1 and a viewing angle of 176 degrees.

Both come equipped with HDMI input, which allows for direct input of digital signals from a variety of sources. The input connections are composed of antenna ports for analog NTSC and digital ATSC tuners, composite video, S-video, component video, computer RGM via VGA port, and HDMI.

Microtek L42CX2A has an asking price of $1,899, while the Cineon CL42HA sells for $1,999.
