The National Executive Board of the American Photographic Artists (APA) has opened an associate chapter of the APA group in Colorado.

One of nine chapters — located in Georgia, California, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and the northwestern United States — the APA Colorado Chapter will use the regional Los Angeles chapter as its main resource for operational guidance.

Colorado photographers have been petitioning for an APA chapter in their state since 2009. According to a study by Colorado Creative Industries, Colorado ranks fifth in the nation in its concentration of creative talent.
