In a development seemingly timed to respond to Twitter’s announcement in June that it will be improving its photo-sharing tools, Facebook, too, is planning to launch a new app for photos soon.
Facebook’s photo app would reportedly be a mélange of several others available today, such as Instagram (an iPhone photo-sharing app), Color (an app that allows users to create group albums within their networks), and Path (a network that enables photo-sharing between users and their 50 closest friends).
So far, Facebook has stated that this platform, which has no release date yet, will not be integrated into the existing Facebook platform or app, but will instead be a standalone service that can tie into a user’s Facebook account.
