Buhl Photos Earn Highest Auction Price for Private Collection
A recent Sotheby’s auction of photographic works known as the Buhl Collection beat the expectations of the collection’s private owners by earning more than $12.3 million. The figure represents the highest ever auction price for a private collection of photographs and a third-highest for a single-owner collection.

Sotheby's reported record bids for its photography sales in New York on April 7 and 8. All three auctions on the block during the two-day period exceeded estimates, for a total of more than $17.3 million.

Sotheby's Institute of Art-London is offering a master's program in historic and contemporary photography, starting in September 2006. The MA in Photography, Historic and Contemporary, is intended to reflect the shift in the way that photography is received and understood.
