Ed Morris, a recent graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography, spent three months (July through September 2000) bicycling coast to coast while capturing in photos the American spirit as personified by its mayors. The result was the exhibit “Mayors Across America,” and a soon-to-be-released coffee table book.

The project was designed to explore the people behind the position: everyday people rising to the demands of their jobs. Sponsors included Jandd Mountaineering, Patagonia, Samy’s Camera, Calumet Photographic and Clear Channel Communications.
