Tamron has fashioned a compact, lightweight lens with a 15x zoom ratio that is the most compact zoom lens available on the market today: the 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC DSLR ultra-high-power zoom lens.
Weighing only 15.9-ounces and measuring 3.8 inches in length, the lens has a 62mm filter diameter, VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system and utilizes Tamron's first standing wave ultrasonic motor system for SLR lenses.
Compatible with digital Canon and Nikon mounts, Tamron expects to release a Sony-compatible mount later this year.
Tamron's new 18-270mm lens retails for about $649.
