The new Lumix DMC-L10 is Panasonic's latest addition to its digital SLR camera line. The camera features a Supersonic Wave Filter system that prevents dust from collecting on the sensor and comes with a 10.1-megapixel Live MOS Sensor and a 2.5-inch Live View LCD monitor that can rotate 270 degrees. The camera has an optical image stabilizer, advanced scene modes and autofocusing methods, including 9-point autofocus, multi, 3-point autofocus, one-point autofocus and spot.
The DMC-L10 is Panasonic's first SLR to feature Face Detection, allowing the camera to focus and detect up to 15 faces in a single image. The user can enjoy blur-free photos with Panasonic's Intelligent ISO Control setting, which measures the movement of a subject and sets the ISO level accordingly. The Live View LCD then lets the user check the image on the camera after exposure compensation adjustments have been made but prior to taking the photograph.
Additionally, the camera uses a hybrid-type autofocus system, giving the user the choice of selecting either the phase-difference autofocus or the contrast autofocus. Manual mode gives the user control of enlarging part of the subject on the LCD and moving the magnified area for easy framing. The camera is equipped with a Leica D Vario-Elmar 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6 Mega OIS lens.
For those transitioning from a compact digital camera to a digital SLR, Panasonic has added conveniences such as the Mode Dial on top of the camera, providing access to the most frequently used settings. The camera gives the user a selection of nine modes, including Standard, Dynamic, Nature, Smooth, Nostalgic, Vibrant, Standard B/W, Dynamic B/W and Smooth B/W.
The price for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 is $1,299.
