Riding the recent wave of enthusiasm for videography, Canon has released two interchangeable-lens digital cinema cameras—the EOS C300 and the EOS C300 PL. The first uses standard Canon SLR EF mount lenses, while the latter uses cinema-quality PL mount lenses.
Both cameras house a redesigned super 35mm-equivalent, 8.29-megapixel CMOS sensor and both shoot in full 1080p HD.
In addition to frame rates of 59.41i, 50.00i, 29.97P, 25.00P and 23.98P, the EOS C300/C300 PL features a 24.00p mode, matching the 24 fps rate of film cameras.
The Canon EOS C300 (EF mount) and the EOS C300 PL (PL mount) digital cinema cameras have an estimated list price of $15,999.
