Nikon has announced the newest additions to its Coolpix line: the S52 and S52c. The 9-megapixel cameras feature 3x, 38-114mm-zoom Nikkor lenses set inside "wave-surface" camera bodies.
The cameras are built on Nikon's Expeed digital image processing system, which is designed to enhance noise reduction and improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The Optical Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization technology compensates for camera shake. ISO settings can reach as high as ISO 3200 manually and ISO 2000 in High-Sensitivity mode.
The S52 and S52c include Nikon imaging technologies, such as enhanced Face-Priority AF, which automatically finds and focuses on up to five faces within the frame; In-Camera Red-Eye Fix; and D-Lighting. A 3-inch, high-resolution LCD screen allows for easy viewing of images.
The S52c contains a wi-fi connection and can send images directly via e-mail. Both cameras feature a Pictmotion feature to create in-camera slide shows with music that can be uploaded from iTunes. Both are SDHC compatible. The S52 has a suggested retail price of $249; the S52c is priced at $299.
