Olympus has introduced the shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof 10.1-megapixel Stylus 1050 SW featuring Tap Control. The 1050 SW features the TruePic III image processor, an LED Illuminator to enhance focus and exposure, and Digital Image Stabilization.
The Stylus 1050 SW can be controlled with taps to its top, back or sides, made possible by the camera's 3D accelerometer. For example, to turn on the flash or Shadow Adjustment Technology, tap the camera's side twice.
Camera features include Smile Shot, which automatically fires off three consecutive shots when your subject smiles, and Face Detection for up to 16 people. An in-camera panorama mode captures three images and stitches them together to create one panoramic image. The Perfect Shot Preview mode enables users to preview and select various photographic effects before snapping. The 1050 SW also features in-camera editing features such as Red-Eye Fix, Shadow Adjustment Edit and a Perfect Fix function to conduct multiple edits at a time.
The Stylus 1050 SW accepts xD-Picture Card media and also accepts microSD memory cards with an adapter. It comes packaged with the Olympus Master 2 software at an estimated street price of $299.
