Canon's new HG10 AVCHD Hard Disk Drive Camcorder offers advanced features and extended recording time. The camcorder has the ability of capturing up to 15 hours of high-definition footage and has a genuine Canon 10x HD video lens. Additionally, the camcorder features Canon's full HD CMOS image sensor, proprietary Digic DV II image processor, SuperRange optical image stabilization and instant autofocus. The small-bodied camcorder uses Canon's full HD CMOS sensor to capture images at 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. To achieve the look of film, the camcorder features 24p Cinema Mode and has the ability to capture 3.1-megapixel photos to a miniSD card. Using the Photo Grab function, the user can easily grab 2-megapixel stills and transfer them directly from the HD video footage during playback. For capturing film, the camcorder's Quick Start function takes the camera from standby mode to recording function almost instantly.

The HG10 HD comes with a navigation control dial located on the LCD panel, which gives the user easy access to the menu. To share video with others, the unit has a 2.7-inch wide-screen Multi-Angle Vivid LCD screen. To connect to a high-definition television, consumers can plug in one cable cord from the built-in HDMI terminal. The camcorder also comes with a Windows-compatible software suite from Corel and includes AVCHD Editing, allowing users to trim, reorder, combine scenes and add music titles. The Corel software lets the user burn edited video onto a full-size AVCHD DVD or standard-definition DVD.

The camcorder comes with a backup utility disc and sells for an estimated price of $1,299.
