JVC has announced two 1,920 x 1,080 full HD hard-disk camcorders with 1,080 progressive 60fps HDMI output: the JVC HD Everio GZ-HD6 and the HD Everio GZ-HD5.
The user can record up to 10 hours of video on the 120-gigabyte (GB) GZ-HD6 and five hours on the 60GB GZ-HD5 in 1,920 x 1,080 full HD mode, and 24 (GZ-HD6) or 12 (GZ-HD5) hours in 1,440 LP mode. The camcorders feature a Fujinon HD f1.8-F1.9 10x zoom lens with three aspherical lens elements and a progressive scan 3-CCD system.
The HD Everio camcorders offer point-and-shoot simplicity and manual controls, including a manual focus ring, manual white balance, exposure control, shutter priority mode, aperture priority mode and sharpness control. The camcorders are also equipped with three digital interfaces for digital viewing: USB, HDMI and Firewire/i.LINK. By connecting the camcorders directly to an optional CU-VD40 HD Everio Share Station DVD Burner via USB, the user can burn HD 12cm DVD discs.
The HD6 and HD5 come with the CyberLink BD Solution software suite for Windows, but are also compatible with Apple iMovie HD and Final Cut Pro video software for the Macintosh.
The JVC GZ-HD6, offered in black, and the GZ-HD5, in silver, are available for $1,399 and $1,199, respectively.
