Doug Walker Named 2010 Commercial Photographer of the Year by PPW
In March, commercial photographer Doug Walker was recognized by the Professional Photographers of Washington as the 2010 Commercial Photographer of the Year. Walker, an Olympia-based photographer since 1994, also received several other mentions at the award ceremony, including the second annual Kenmore Camera-Canon Honor Award for excellence in image making.
Also this year, Walker earned the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation from the Professional Photographic Certification Commission.
Doug Walker Receives National Merit Award from PPW
Commercial photographer Doug Walker, of Walker Photography in Olympia, Wash., received a National Merit award from the Professional Photographers of America judges at the Professional Photographers of Washington's Annual Educational Conference and Print Competition. Natalie Fobes Receives Honors from PPW and WPPI
For the second year in a row, Natalie Fobes has received a Judges Choice award from the Professional Photographers of Washington. Other recent honors include two Accolade of Excellence Awards and two Exhibition Prints from Wedding and Portrait Professionals International.
In addition, the Seattle-based Fobes recently joined 50 other photographers from around the world to capture 'A Day in the Life of the American Woman.' EpiCom Media will publish the images in a book scheduled for release this fall.
Kevin McGowan Photos Selected for PPW's Pacific Northwest Print Competition Salon
Kevin McGowan, of Strode McGowan Photography in Tacoma, Wash., had four images chosen for exhibition at the 2005 Annual Pacific Northwest Print Competition Salon in Pasco, Wash., directed by the Professional Photographers of Washington. McGowan also was a speaker at the concurrent educational conference.
Doug Walker Wins Three Top Awards at PPW Annual Conference
Commercial photographer Doug Walker, of Walker Photography in Olympia, Wash., won three top awards at the Professional Photographers of Washington Annual Educational Conference and Print Competition.
Walker received the Best Architectural and the Best Industrial print awards, as well as the C.C. Yang Trophy for highest total combined score from four entries.
Pete Moroz Receives Kodak Gallery Award for Wedding Photo at PPW Annual Convention
PPW Awards Honors Susan Marsidi, Kevin Swett, Judy Horn
The 2003 Professional Photographer of Washington Awards were handed out earlier this year in Yakima, Wash. Overall awards were given in four categories: Susan Marsidi won the Russ Clift Trophy for Diversified Aggregate and the Lee Merrill Trophy -- PPW People's Choice for her "Bridge to Paradise"; Kevin Swett took the Alma Grey Trophy for First-Time Entry Highest Aggregate; and Best of Show -- Jurors' Choice went to Judy Horn's "Winter Flight."
Dean Johnson Elected President of PPW
Dean Johnson was elected president of the Professional Photographers of Washington at the 51st Educational Conference and Print Competition held earlier this year. Other members of the group's executive committee include Dave Mandelas, vice president; Gary Jentoff, executive manager; Nichelle Price, treasurer; Renee Crist, secretary; and Rob Behm, immediate past president.
Kevin McGowan and Sharon Holcomb Take Top Awards at 2003 PPW Print Competition
Top awards at the 2003 Pierce County (Wash.) Professional Photographers Association semiannual print competition went to two photographers from Strode-McGowan Studios. Kevin McGowan took Best of Show and Best of Commercial Category for his "Combo Platter," one of a series created for Montezuma Restaurants. His associate, Sharon Holcomb, won in the Best of Restoration category for her "Peek-a-Boo Priest."

Pete Moraz Receives Kodak Gallery Award for Portrait
Pete Moraz of Spokane, Wash., has received the Kodak Gallery Award, which recognizes excellence in photography, from Kodak’s Professional Division. Moraz was honored for “Jewel of the Nile,” an image entered in the Portrait category. The photograph was also named Best Portrait of a Woman at the Professional Photographers of Washington’s 50th Anniversary Convention and Print Competition.
