Ideal for professional event and portrait photographers, Canon’s new 7DSV SLR offers “locking” camera controls and an organizational bar-coding system.

Four levels of password-protected access allow for camera settings to be “locked” in and help to maintain more consistent photo shoots when there are multiple users. Administrators can also set custom functionality within each tier level to allow certain users greater flexibility when operating the camera.

Canon’s new bar-code solution links customer data directly with every image so that users don’t have to append information in the post-processing phase. A variety of Honeywell bar-code scanners are compatible with the system.

The EOS 7D studio version kit includes Canon’s WFT-E5A unit, which can be used along with an optional bar-code reader to scan and manage images through a wired connection. A wireless configuration is also possible with the use of Canon’s BU-30 Bluetooth adapter.

The 7DSV comes in a kit with the WFT-E5A for $2,599, or in body-only configuration for $1,829.
