Canon has added two high-performance point-and-shoot cameras to its PowerShot line: the S95 and the SD4500.

Featured on both of these cameras is a 10-megapixel high-sensitivity system for improved low-light shooting. For even more enhanced low-light shooting, the S95 also uses an f/2.0 lens.

While both models are equipped with HD video recording capabilities, the S95 shoots in 720p resolution and the SD4500 shoots in 1080p. However, the S95 is the first in this line of cameras to also feature an in-camera high-dynamic range scene mode that can be used for balancing film scenes with high-contrast lighting.

Now with a wider range of preprogrammed settings, these cameras use Smart Auto mode, which chooses from 28 scene options to optimize image capturing. The SD4500 also comes with a “best image selection” feature. With one click of the shutter, the camera takes five sequential shots and stores the one with the best movement and facial features.

The S95 and SD4500 cameras retail for $399 and $349, respectively.
