Fujifilm's newest infrared digital camera is the IS-1. Developed for law enforcement and the scientific fields, the newest model is a follow-up to the FinePix S3 Pro UVIR DSLR. The new IS-1 can be used in both visible and infrared light spectrums. It features a continuous live preview feature, an articulating LCD and a built-in 10.7X 28-300mm optical zoom system.
For capturing visible light images, the camera has a 9-megapixel Fujifilm Super CCS sensor with an ISO 80-1600 sensitivity. Fuji's Real Photo Technology enables IS-1 users to capture images using visible and infrared light (approximately 400-900 nanometers).
To achieve a desired effect, users can apply a lens filtration to isolate specific wavelengths. Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization technology aids in blur reduction by using the heightened sensitivity of the IS-1 and the high-speed shutter settings.
HS-V2 software lets users further explore the full potential of the camera's Raw file format.
Fujifilm's new IS-1 is priced at $899 with optional infrared and infrared cut filters.
