Fujifilm USA plans to reintroduce an ISO 50 Fujichrome Velvia professional film, Velvia II. First introduced in 1990, the high-color-saturation, high-contrast transparency E-6 compatible film quickly became a favorite worldwide. It was discontinued last year, however, due to difficulties in procuring some raw materials used to produce the emulsion.
Since then, Fujifilm has developed substitute raw materials and manufacturing technologies that have allowed it to recommence production of a new film with the same high quality of the original. It is expected to be available in the late spring of 2007.
