Canon introduces two new cameras in the PowerShot A-series: the A650 and A720. Both cameras are point-and-shoot and user-friendly, with a design that features a grip for natural fit and stable handling. The cameras each use Canon's Optical Image Stabilization technology for sharp and clear images and Digic III technology for power and speed.
The A650 features 12.1-megapixel resolution and a 6X optical zoom. The 21 shooting modes give the user more control, with the range of settings varying from Manual to Aperture-Priority and Shutter-Priority. The modes can be selected using the intuitive mode dial located on the 2.5-inch Vari-Angle LCD monitor.
The PowerShot A720 has 8-megapixel resolution and is capable of recording high-quality VGA movies by choosing from the selection of creative shooting modes. Both cameras use Canon's Advanced Face Detection software, including red-eye correction, and are powered by two AA batteries.
The A650 and the A720 IS snap into waterproof cases, allowing them to function at depths of up to 130 feet. Canon's compact photo printer produces 4 x 6 borderless images and is PictBridge compatible. Both cameras can use Multimedia MMC, standard SD and high-capacity SDHC cards.
The PowerShot A650 IS digital camera and A720 digital camera sell for around $399 and $249, respectively.
