Canon has added six products to its L-series line, including four new EF lenses — a fisheye zoom, a telephoto zoom and two super telephotos — and two accessory extenders.

The widest fisheye on the market to date, the EF 8-15mm f/4L fisheye USM lens can capture 180-degree-angle-of-view shots on all EOS DSLRs. The 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM telephoto zoom is the first of its kind in the L-series line and offers users a broader focal-length range for telephoto photography. For super-telephoto images, the new EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM are ideal for the high-speed performance needs of photojournalists and sports and wildlife photographers.

Canon’s two new extenders — the EF 1.4x III and the Extender EF 2x III — provide additional telephoto reach and clarity. Improvements to all of these lenses include an anti-reflection multi-coating, a fluorine anti-smear lens coating, and an additional image stabilization mode option. This new stabilization option, which eliminates camera shaking on fast shutter speeds, is activate after the shutter button is pressed halfway.

These new lenses will hit the market incrementally between October 2010 and January 2011, and will be available for $1,400 (fisheye), $1,500 (70-300mm telephoto), $7,000 (EF 300mm super telephoto) and $11,000 (EF 400mm super telephoto). The extenders will be available in December for $500 each.
